Design for Recycling workshop
On March 20, Fost Plus along with Fevia, Comeos and BCZ-CBL organized a "Design for recycling" workshop at the Sitel sorting center focused on dairy packaging.
Belgian industry leaders have committed to making all household packaging recyclable by 2025.
The workshop focused specifically on dairy packaging such as yogurt jars, cheese packaging, butter and ice cream packaging. For each type, recyclable alternatives were presented and optimization options were discussed. The workshop revealed that there is still work to be done for butter wrappers and for yogurt jars and soft cheeses, where recyclable alternatives should maintain quality. Examples of market available alternatives were shown and actions were taken to support companies in moving to recyclable solutions that are compatible with the Belgian sorting and recycling infrastructure and future-proof.
